Harry turned to the CFPB when his son was scammed

Date: 04/18/2018
Ari is an Army veteran from Hull, Massachusetts. Before he deployed to Iraq, he bought a truck and got pushed into a subprime auto-loan scam that cost him more than 60% of his monthly paycheck. His dad Harry knew it was a bad deal, and tried everything he could to get him out of it. But no agency would do anything to help – until he contacted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The agency looked into his complaint, stopped the scam, and forced those companies to refund $6.5 million to over 50,000 active-duty servicemembers, including Ari. The CFPB works. But Trump appointee Mick Mulvaney wants to stop it from helping millions of Americans like Harry and Ari. Published April 16, 2018.

Senator Warren asks about U.S. support for Saudi military operations in Yemen

Date: 03/21/2018
For nearly three years, the United States has been selling weapons, refueling aircraft, and providing other support to Saudi Arabia for its military operations in Yemen. And yet – we aren't keeping track of where those U.S.-armed and refueled planes are going. As a result, we've given Saudi Arabia a blank check to bomb Yemen and worsen the country's humanitarian crisis, with tens of thousands of innocent civilians killed and many children starving. We need to hold our partners and allies accountable for using the weapons and other resources we provide them. That's why I cosponsored the Sanders-Lee resolution #SJRes54 that would stop U.S. involvement in the Saudi-led bombing campaign in Yemen unless Congress gives authorization.

Date: 08/03/2017
In March, Senator Elizabeth Warren introduced legislation to drive down the cost of hearing aids for tens of millions of Americans by loosening up outdated regulations and making certain types of hearing aids available over the counter. An equal number of Democrats and Republicans co-sponsored the bill. Consumer advocates, hearing loss groups, audiologists, and the AARP supported the bill. On August 3rd, 2017, the Senate approved the bill and sent it to the President Trump's desk. This is good news for the millions of Americans shelling out nearly $5,000 a pair for hearing aids, and the millions more who go without help because they can't afford these life-changing devices.

What Medicaid Cuts Would Mean to Our Children

Date: 07/21/2017
40% of Medicaid recipients are children. Dr. DeWayne Pursley is the head of neonatal care at one of the best hospitals in the country in Boston, Massachusetts. He’s seen pediatric AIDS and a number of epidemics, but he says cuts to Medicaid could be the largest threat facing our children he’s encountered in his 30 years on the job. Dr. Hope Ricciotti is the head of the obstetrics and gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She is urging Senate Republicans to let the health experts weigh in to make sure their “health care” bill doesn’t roll back all the progress we’ve made in women’s health. Published: July 21, 2017.

Senator Warren Stands Against Trump Nominee David Bernhardt

Date: 07/21/2017
President Trump promised to “drain the swamp” of DC. But with each day of this Administration, this Republican-controlled Senate approves yet another corporate insider to help out big business. The decision to nominate Mr. Bernhardt is no exception – he is another conflict-ridden, climate-dismissing Trump appointee who favors profits over people.

Happy 6th Birthday, CFPB!

Date: 07/21/2017
For six years, this agency has had one mission: to take the tricks and traps out of mortgages, credit cards, student loans and other financial products so we can level the playing field for working people. And it’s worked – the agency has returned nearly $12 billion to working families who were cheated. The big banks have been against the CFPB from day one, and their armies of lawyers and lobbyists are doing they can to weaken this agency. We'll need to have the CFPB's back as Wall Street's buddies in Congress try to roll back the rules. But today: we celebrate. Happy Birthday, CFPB.

A Bipartisan Effort to Help Veterans Get Jobs

Date: 06/29/2017
If you can drive a military truck in combat, with hazardous cargo, at night, through a sandstorm in Iraq or Afghanistan, then you can drive a commercial truck on an interstate. But too many service members struggle to transition into civilian jobs because they don't have the right certifications and licenses. Today, the Senate Commerce Committee approved one of Senator Elizabeth Warren's bipartisan proposals to remove legal obstacles delaying service members from getting commercial drivers’ licenses. This bill is a no-brainer. Congress should pass it and send it to the President.

We couldn’t be the happy, healthy, thriving family that we are today without the support of Medicaid.”
