Warren Statement on DOJ Settling Live Nation-Ticketmaster Case

“The Trump administration’s decision to give Live Nation a slap on the wrist is a betrayal of every music lover and concertgoer exploited by Live Nation-Ticketmaster.”

Washington, DC - In response to reports that President Trump’s Department of Justice has reached a settlement with Live Nation, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) released the following statement:

“The Trump administration’s decision to give Live Nation a slap on the wrist is a betrayal of every music lover and concertgoer exploited by Live Nation-Ticketmaster.

“The Trump Justice Department’s puny settlement is why corporate executives treat breaking the law as just another cost of doing business: this fine amounts to less than 1 percent of Live Nation’s $25 billion in revenue last year – and Trump’s deal lets the company continue its abusive practices, like charging a “Ticketmaster Tax” of 15 percent. I support the state Attorneys General continuing to sue to break up Ticketmaster and Live Nation.

“Under Donald Trump, antitrust enforcement has become a cesspool of corruption. After Trump ousted the DOJ’s antitrust enforcer, Americans deserve to know if the Trump administration is playing political favorites rather than enforcing the law based on the facts.”
