A pair of Democratic senators are warning that technological changes to state unemployment insurance systems by outside vendors may be hurting displaced workers’ ability to access safety net benefits.
“When a vendor’s modernization efforts go awry, the livelihood of Americans during periods of unemployment are put in jeopardy,” Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) wrote in letters sent Sunday to three companies. “When a vendor’s modernization efforts go awry, the livelihood of Americans during periods of unemployment are put in jeopardy.”
