Statement from Senator Warren on Iran Nuclear Agreement

Washington, DC - United States Senator Elizabeth Warren released the following statement in response to reports that President Trump plans to "decertify" the international nuclear agreement with Iran:

"President Trump's reported decision to decertify the Iran nuclear agreement is dangerous. But don't take my word for it: ask our nation's military leaders. The Secretary of Defense admitted just this week that it's in our national security interest to keep our word and stick to the agreement. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said that Iran is complying with the deal.

"President Trump should listen to his top military advisers and make the responsible choice for our national security. Iran's government is not our friend: it supports terrorism, abuses human rights, and develops ballistic missiles - but it's much easier to counter Iran's destabilizing behavior if it has no nuclear weapon.  As long as Iran is holding up its end of the bargain, the U.S. should do the same."
