Democrats and Republicans Work Together to Help Untreated Hearing Loss
In March, Senator Elizabeth Warren introduced legislation to drive down the cost of hearing aids for tens of millions of Americans by loosening up outdated regulations and making certain types of hearing aids available over the counter. An equal number of Democrats and Republicans co-sponsored the bill. Consumer advocates, hearing loss groups, audiologists, and the AARP supported the bill. On August 3rd, 2017, the Senate approved the bill and sent it to the President Trump's desk. This is good news for the millions of Americans shelling out nearly $5,000 a pair for hearing aids, and the millions more who go without help because they can't afford these life-changing devices.
