Warren presses Pentagon nominee on mismanagement allegations

A top defense nominee’s record as a former public health official is being scrutinized by Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., ahead of his Senate Armed Services Committee confirmation hearing this week.

In a letter sent Sunday night, Warren excoriated Robert Kadlec, the nominee to be assistant secretary of Defense for nuclear, chemical and biological defense programs, for a series of scandals when he was an assistant secretary of Health and Human Services during the first Trump administration.
