Warren Statement on Jonathan Kanter’s Nomination to Lead the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division

Washington, D.C. - United States Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) released the following statement on President Biden’s nomination of Jonathan Kanter to lead the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Antitrust Division:

“The Biden administration’s nomination of Jonathan Kanter to lead the DOJ’s Antitrust Division is tremendous news for workers and consumers. Jonathan has been a leader in the fight to check consolidated corporate power and strengthen competition in our markets. At this critical time, the DOJ must be equipped to take on giant tech companies and monopolistic corporations in any sector that have shut out smaller businesses, depressed wages for employees, and hurt consumers by depriving them of choices and affordable prices. Jonathan will reinvigorate antitrust enforcement—both civil and criminal—and strengthen the DOJ’s scrutiny of the anticompetitive abuses that threaten our economy, our society, and our democracy.”
